Le forme δράκιον e δραύκιον sono lemmatizzate separatamente in DGE, LBG e LSJ (δραύκιον non è registrato in WB); tuttavia, esse sono grafie alternative per uno stesso termine in SGD 58, tradotto come «bracelet» dall’ed. pr., Ph. Bruneau, Recherches sur les cultes de Délos a l’époque hellénistique et a l’époque impériale, Paris 1970, pp. 650-655, come «necklace» da C.A. Faraone-D. Obbink, Magika Hiera. Ancient Greek Magic & Religion, New York-Oxford 1991, p. 67.

In PRyl. 627 il sostantivo figura in un elenco di vestiti e altri prodotti tessili, dove, secondo C.H. Roberts-E.G. Turner, p. 122, ad r. 14 la parola potrebbe derivare da δράσσομαι e δράγμα e significare «hand-towel» oppure essere un diminutivo di δράκων, «in the sense of scarf»; cf. GI3 s.v. δράκων «med. fasciatura sinuosa o incrociata (per la caviglia)». Il termine manca in GI³.
